Of course, I have some extra privileges. In between meals, strapped to my seat, I can write down my thoughts for my own entertainment (and hopefully yours).

So, I’ll dedicate this posting to long flight topic and the poor chickens in closed confinements around the world. What do you usually prepare in your hand-carry for a long-haul flight? What are your must-pack items? Here’s mine:

ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE REMEDY KIT

Facial Moisturizer: Here I have Paula’s Choice Earth Source Moisturizer. Just a simple cream to moist my face. No need to count your SPF on the airplane, right?

Lip Balm: With the hint of peppermint coolness, this pure natural lip roll-on from Body Shop has been my recent favorite. It doesn’t leave any residue, doesn’t add color, and it feels just right. Even my 5 yro daughter loves it.

Folding Hairbrush: I just love this thing. I have at least four at home, and I don’t mind to add another one or two just to fulfill my obsession. The genius who invented the folding hairbrush should be nominated for the Nobel prize.

Facial Wash: At one point in your long flight, you really need to wash your face with water. Not only the air dries up your skin, it tends to make it oily as well. Not a good combo. Water and a tiny amount of facial wash will bring some aliveness back to your face. Here I have some odorless, colorless facial wash from Klinik Estetika in a travel container.

Compact Powder: A touch of matte finish from a compact powder won’t hurt. Here I have MAC Studio Fix 2-way cake.

Blush-On: Just a little something to spark that grey face. I love this YSL Touche Blush for its practicality. No brush needed, just pat-pat your cheekbones, and voila! No more zombie look!

Eye Brow Pencil: A few strokes is what we need to create the illusion as if we’re ready to face the day as brave strangers in a foreign land. Here I have the most reliable, the infamous pensil-alis-sejuta-umat: Viva, in black color.

Lipstick: I’m not a lipstick person, to be honest. I dislike leaving lip marks on my cup, I resent the buttery chemical taste, and often I’m just too lazy to reapply that it made almost no sense to wear it in the first place. But after a long flight, a hint of color on our lips would make us look less like Edward Cullen. Here I have L’Oreal Shine Caresse in Bella (not Swan. I think it\’s just what they call ‘pinkish nude color’ nowadays in the vampire cliques).

P3K ALA (ISTRI) DUKUN

This is not the usual first aid ensemble, I know. But in our household, these things are as common as paracetamol or povidone iodine. Whenever we travel, these babies go with us.

Bach Flower Rescue Remedy: A first aid remedy for any kind of shock and trauma. The energetical vibration in Bach Flower Rescue Remedy will bring us back to our center. For further explanation on what and how the remedy works, you can read here.

Bach Flower Rescue Remedy Cream: The same rescue remedy formula in a form of cream, popularly known as the Rescue Cream. Saya pakai dari mulai menangani kejeduk sampai digigit nyamuk.

Bach Flower Treatment Bottle: My own personal mix. I formulated it based on my needs. Here I have mix that can address usual travelling issues like: adjusting to new places, jetlag, tiredness, homesick, etc.

Digize Essential Oil (Young & Living): If I coud, I would bring a lot more essential oils to travel with. But since I only had a small bag, I prioritized ones that I used most often, including Digize. Formulated for digestive issues, I find Digize is essential for travelling.

Peace & Calming Essential Oil (Young & Living): Peace & Calming is one  of my personal favorites from the wide range Young & Living collection. I would use it whenever I want to chill out, relax, and have a better rest.

ANTI-COLD NINJA GEARS

Ketika bule berkaus oblong di baris sebelah asyik menyantap es krim yang dibagikan pramugari, saya mulai mengeluarkan perlengkapan “perang”. Perang dengan udara dingin. This tropical girl don’t dig cold weather. I’ll skip the ice cream, thank you very much. Berikut peralatan tempur saya:

Fleece Socks (Uniqlo): Uniqlo named them as fleece socks, but for me they’re more like slippers.

Compression Socks: I bought it on board during my flight with Air Asia (but it seems they no longer sell it, I couldn\’t find it in their website). This compression socks reduced swollen feet after long flight. I traveled 17 hours, with a short stop, and these socks had proven themselves (results may vary, I guess).

Ultra Light Down Jacket (Uniqlo): This ultra light down jacket is ultra cool. A warm padded jacket with down filling that you can roll up into a size of a water bottle. I can tuck it in my bag and wear it later on arrival. It’s as good as a superhero outfit. In the mean time, I’ll stick with the airplane blanket worn as a cape.

There you go. Actually, I don’t know if this posting will do any good to the chickens, but at least I have fun sharing. So, share yours. I’d like to know new items to consider for my next long flight besides horse shoe and garlic necklace.
